These three pages are the beginning of the journey to Spain. The Knight wakes the Squire, having just been exiled earlier that day. He fights with his thoughts, unsure of whether or not this is a good decision, or one he’s even worthy of making.
Safe Passage

The Knight and the Squire hiking through a forest. Believing that they are safe because they chose to avoid town, they are blissfully unaware of the search party that is closing in on them, sent by their king.
This piece takes place at a point where the Squire does not know of his lord’s betrayal, making the proximity of the search party alarming, for the truth is to be let out soon.
This work follows the two taking a break during the hike, allowing for their pursuers to mount a surprise attack, forcing them to quickly respond.
The top two rows of panels show the relationship between the two mending, as they regain familiarity with one another. The appearance of these knights, clearly donning the helms of the French Empire, may cause all of their progress to be undone.
